Photoshoot 10

I had explored East Durham Collage (Peterlee college), which is a derelict school.  The idea/concept behind this photoshoot was to capture different elements of decay inside the abandoned building however, I could not enter the building as it was fenced off and there was a security guard patrolling the area. Due to this the concept behind this shoot had changed to capturing decay elements from the outside of the building. I had taken this photoshoot later on in the afternoon, however I did not loose much lighting throughout the shoot. This photoshoot can be seen to relate to that of my artist research of Timm Suess. I have chosen to analyse my first image, the image was taken at this angle because I wanted to capture the bright blue graffiti on the side of the college due the colour of the graffiti this makes it the main point of focus. There is a contrast between the lighting, shadows created from the trees and the graffiti all of these colours and different elements creates a sharp detail that demands the viewers attention.  Due to the main focus of the image being off centre this has created asymmetrical composition. The engagement of the subject matter throughout the shoot can be direct but also distant.

I have chosen to analyse my second image, for this image I wanted to capture the courtyard of the school as well as some of the metal sheeting covering all of the windows. However due to the fencing I was only able to capture a small part of the courtyard but I managed to capture the metal sheeting and to the right side of the image there is a small amount of graffiti and parts of the roof that have collapsed. Due to the bright colour of the graffiti I feel this is the main point of focus, as the main focus if off centre this has asymmetrical composition. The images were taken at this angle, as I wanted to capture the covered up windows as well as the collapsed roof. I am pleased with the way this photoshoot has turned out however I feel the images would have been more successful if I was able to capture images of the inside of the building.
